ARE YOU SINGLE-MINDED? I cannot listen to my mind and the Word of God at the same time. My heart follows after the things of God but my mind after the things of Satan--the things of this world. James says that a double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. To listen to my mind and the Word of God is to tear my soul in two opposite directions. My Father does not want this to be. My Father wants me to focus upon and acknowledge His Word and His Word alone. If I listen to my mind instead of the Word of God, I am giving place to the devil and the scriptures say, ”Do not give place to the devil.” How do I know it really is the devil? Simply because what the mind says is always contrary to the Word of God. The Bible says that it is a carnal mind and at enmity with God. That means it is actually in opposition to God and does not believe His Word. How than can I listen to something that is in opposition to my Father’s Word and please my Father? God’s Word always brings peace to my mind. The carnal thoughts of Satan do just the opposite. If I listen to my mind, I hear a dozen voices telling me contradictory things and all of these things oppose the truth of God’s Word! As long as I listen to these voices, I can find no rest from the constant struggle that goes on in my mind. My Father tells me that if I will believe Him instead of the voice of my mind, I will have peace! But there is no rest or peace when I listen to my mind. My Father’s Word never brings thoughts to me that would cause a troubled heart. His Word is “LET NOT your heart be troubled.” “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord--thoughts of PEACE AND NOT OF EVIL.” The devil’s word is just the opposite of God’s Word. That’s how I know it is the devil because the Bible says there are only two sources--good and evil. God is good and Satan is the evil one. My Father has made things pretty simple, so I will just believe His Word. How about you? Warren D. Rogers |
