In 1973 I was invited by my friend Danny Hart to join him on the road with the Merle Haggard Show. During this time of my life I was an abuser of drugs, and alcohol. I felt that I needed them to perform on stage.  My life was an emotional shambles. My marriage too, was in big trouble. I knew if something didn't happen, that soon I would loose my family.

Danny Hart and I joined the Haggard Show in Redding, California. It was great! I thought perhaps now, with this connection, things might change. Haggard had a big hit in 1973, and the shows were packed out. After Redding, we traveled on to Salem, Oregon for two performances, at the Oregon Sate Fair. Arriving  early, Danny and I got a hotel room. Danny went right to sleep. I couldn't rest because of the drugs I had been taking.  On the nightstand by my bed,  I saw a Bible. Later I would learn, it was placed there by the Gideon's Ministry. The Bible was opened to the Book of  Ecclesiasts, chapter one. As I read the Bible, I became inspired.  I knew at that time my wife was praying for me, so I continue to read. Something happen to me that day,

Two weeks later with a stolen Gideon Bible I gave my life to Christ. The Word of God saved my life and my family.  Several years later I had the opportunity to baptize my friend Danny. I am still praying for all my musician friends.
