l Pastor Wanda grew up in church with a praying Christian Mother l
THE TESTIMONY OF PASTOR WANDA WIDGER With continuous church attendance, Youth camp every summer, and President of the youth group laid a foundation in Jesus Christ. In her teens she met someone, and completely forgot about her faith. As drugs and alcohol began to embrace them their lives began to crumble. The marriage was over; her life plummeted into a deep depression. As drugs and alcohol became even more appealing, she was on a train going nowhere fast, and couldn’t seem to get off. Feeling she had lost it all, she decided to end her life. Her parents took her daughter and were headed to visit relatives in Sacramento, California. After they left she decided now is the time, she headed for the gun her Dad kept in an old purse in the top of his closet. About that time the front door burst open, and there was her Mother and daughter. God sent her back! You see in Zechariah 10:8"I will hiss (whistle) for them, (as the keeper does for the Bees) and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, they shall increase”. I went to Sacramento with them, met my cousin who was in a gospel band, she took me to band practice at an old Mortuary, now church. The Country Singer (Johnny Mays) was the Pastor of the church, began to sing a Dallas Holmes song, “AT MY WORST YOU FOUND ME”. As he sang this song the Holy Spirit began to melt my calloused heart, His Spirit began to embrace me, pouring out New Life on me, and the first time since my youth I remembered God’s special love and wonderful touch. I had planned to take my life that day but God had other plans; He gave me New Life, and started me on a new journey with Life Everlasting. Sister Wanda rededicated her life to Jesus Christ, and moved to Sacramento, where she became Pastor Johnny and Sister Judy Mays church Secretary. In 1982 The Journey led me to the Worship Center with Pastors Larry & Edna Spivey. Pastor Wanda was head Intercessor, and director of Women’s Ministries. It was through the Ministry at The Worship Center, The Temple Prayer Warriors Ministry was birthed. She held prayer meetings in her home for three years, and evangelistic rallies in Solano County for eight years. Under the Mentor ship of Pastor Larry Spivey, Pastor Wanda received an exhorter’s certificate, for one year. Through the Pentecostal Church of God, and studies from Messenger College (Joplin Mo.) She became licensed and later ordained... She was Pastor Greg & Marilyn Ojeda Associate Pastor for two years. In 1998 Pastor Wanda pioneered and established New Hope Praise Center. Pastor Wanda has been very active in many community events. She was pastor for six years and completed her season with New Hope. The journey that began many years ago has brought her full circle again in the Ministry with the now International Renowned Evangelist/Pastor Dr. Johnny Mays, and National Light Ministries Intl. As Director of women’s Ministries. Pastor Wanda has a deep compassion for people, believing God, as His Instrument to bring transformation through His anointing to the lives of His children.
